Sharpening services

My name is Peter Nowlan and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I first became interested in sharpening after watching my father sharpen his chisels on an old oilstone about 35 years ago. I was amazed by the sound and the way the sharpened chisel sliced so effortlessly through the wood afterwards. I learned how to sharpen from trial and error but I never lost the fascination of the process of sharpening. Many years and thousands of knives later, and after retiring from the Royal Canadian Navy, I opened up my business, New Edge Sharpening. Most of my work is freehand using a wide variety of water stones and I always complete the process with leather strops to achieve the cleanest edge I possibly can.
