The FN Big series is a collaboration between Jende and Master Kuo to make some seriously large fish and butchering knives. The FN Big 1600 Taiwan Tuna Knife is the largest knife we dare make for now, and wins all current knife related arguments, and is meant to be used more like a can opener by using the weight top penetrate into, then push through and slice big fish like like Tuna, Mahi and swordfish. The big belly fish knife is also good for slicing larger cuts of fish into steaks. Of course it can whack or hammer its way as well.

This FN Big 1600, also referred to as a maguro kiri in Japanese, is hand forged by Master Kuo from spring steel and has a RC hardness of 60-61. The black scale from the forge forms a natural protective coating that keeps the blade from rusting, and looks pretty cool, too.

Dimensions: Blade Length: 320mm / 12.6" Blade Height: 200mm / 8" Overall Length: 390mm / 15.4" Spine thickness: 6mm / 0.25" Weight: 1600g / 57oz

Knife care: Keep clean with warm water and soap. Towel dry immediately. Do not put into dishwasher. The edge steel can show signs of surface rust over time. Most surface rust can be removed by sharpening the edge or using a scotchbrite pad.

Master Kuo knives are some of the sharpest factory sharp knives we've ever seen, but they are capable of even more after our professional sharpening services. You can choose how sharp you'd like your knife from the dropdown menu above. We recommend the 2000 and 5000 Grit services for this knife.

Kuo Chang-Shi is most famous for forging the original Green Sword of Destiny from the 2000 movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". His Damascus steel designs incorporate human bones and ashes to imbibe the spirit into the piece, as well as to add some elemental strength to the steel (such as manganese and phosphorus), which is based on historical accounts in ancient Chinese sword making.
